Communication Top Tips for Healthcare Professionals
We are pleased to launch our Communication Top Tips for healthcare staff. These resources were co-produced with the Involving Everyone group. A group of family carers of people with a profound and multiple learning disability.
People with a profound and multiple learning disability have a greater level of need. People often express themselves through non-verbal means or through a few words and symbols. It’s likely, that unless working in specialist services some healthcare staff will have limited experience of working with a person with a profound and multiple learning disability.
The resources are designed to give all healthcare professionals some tips and phrases to support them when meeting and communicating with people with profound and multiple learning disability, no matter how brief their involvement may be.
This work follows on from the North East North Cumbria Reasonable Adjustment Campaign.
